Dubai is home to some of the world's best exhibitions and events. In this vibrant sector, one name that has created a lasting impact over the past decade is JKK Group, led by a Malayali — Koshy John. Hailing from Thiruvalla, he initially came to Dubai to work in a finance company. However, after two years, he transitioned into a sales role. It was during his time at a cargo sales company that he unexpectedly got the opportunity to enter the exhibition industry.

The Birth of JKK Group

Koshy began working in the exhibition field in 1990. After gaining six years of experience, he founded JKK in 2005. He recalls that it was during his time in the sales department that he truly realized his talent for the field. When he outperformed his colleagues in sales, he knew he had found his calling. His approach gained immense popularity among clients. While Dubai is highly competitive in this sector, Koshy believes JKK stands out by maintaining a personal touch in their services — something many others overlook. They maintain higher service standards and operate the business without traditional salesmen or executives, setting them apart.

Global Clientele & International Relations

About 90% of JKK’s clients are international. It was only after the COVID-19 pandemic that the company began focusing more on the UAE market. In 2010, JKK expanded its business to Africa.

The Dubai Airshow: A Landmark Moment

Among the many milestones, Dubai Airshow stands out as one of their proudest achievements. Koshy recalls the praise and admiration received from attendees, including teams from France and the Middle East, who later collaborated with JKK.

Secret to Success: Strong Personal Relationships

Koshy believes the secret behind their success is deep, personal client relationships. JKK is more than just a service provider — they act as a reliable partner in any need. For instance, a leading paint manufacturer in Sharjah trusts JKK not only for shipping but also consults them for any European services, thanks to the solid trust and relationship they’ve built.

Africa – The Untapped Frontier

Koshy never initially aspired to do business in Africa. A regular newspaper reader, his interest was piqued by Gulf News coverage of regions like Africa, India, Europe, and the Middle East. Gradually, Africa caught his attention. With previous experience across nearly 30 countries, he traveled to Uganda, where he identified strong potential in exhibitions.

He believes it is better to build a business in a developing country with potential rather than in a developed one where competition is high. He compares parts of Africa to Kerala 40 years ago — full of raw opportunities. Despite negative media portrayals, Koshy encourages entrepreneurs to venture into Africa with confidence. Between 2010 and 2020, he operated primarily in Africa.

Expo 2020 Dubai: Marking Their Presence

JKK made a notable mark during Expo 2020 Dubai, especially in the logistics sector. Triple E Events handled cargo for pavilions such as France and China. JKK also contributed to exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Public Transport, among many other prestigious events across Dubai.

UAE: The Golden Land of Opportunity

Like many Malayalis, Koshy arrived in the Gulf following his brother. He firmly believes the UAE offers better infrastructure and support for business than Kerala. Since many of his friends have migrated abroad, UAE became the base for his business and life. His brother now oversees the African operations. Koshy lives in UAE with his wife and only daughter, who is married and resides in Ernakulam, Kerala.

New Air Cargo Venture to Africa

JKK has recently started air cargo operations from the UAE to Africa. Business visitors often come on short visas, purchase goods, and prefer to have them delivered on the same flight. This new venture is targeted at such entrepreneurs.

Koshy concludes by saying:
