Friends of Haripad Celebrates 'Ponnonam-2026' in Sharjah; Former Presidents Honoured on 20th Anniversary

SHARJAH: Friends of Haripad (FOH), an expatriate community organisation representing Haripad natives residing in the UAE, hosted its annual Onam celebration, 'Ponnonam-2026', with colourful cultural festivities at the Sky Hall, Mia Mall, Sharjah, on Sunday, October 18.
The event was officially inaugurated by popular radio personality RJ Akshay Uthaman from Home FM. Commemorating the 20th anniversary of the association, former presidents of FOH were specially honoured during the ceremony for their contributions to the organisation.
RJ Akshay also presented the Education Excellence Awards to children of FOH members who achieved outstanding academic success, alongside the Kalasree Awards recognising exceptional talents in arts and culture.
The presidential address was delivered by FOH President Manohar Sadanandan. Patron Shaji Thomas, General Secretary Smitha Ajay, and Treasurer Noushad Maytheen addressed the gathering alongside executive committee members.
The celebrations featured vibrant cultural and stage performances by members and their families, followed by a traditional grand Onam feast (Onasadya). The organisers noted that the gathering successfully reflected the unity, nostalgia, and rich cultural heritage of Haripad within the UAE diaspora.
