Netflix have apparently shelved the 150 crores project of Bahubali ; Before the Beginning. Director S.S. Rajamouli had announced a prequel to the epic movie series Bahubali, in coalition with Netflix. Now, after 6 months of shooting and Post Production works, Netflix have dropped the project, as they are not satisfied with the visuals shot. The story revolved around the rise of Shivagami Devi, a character portrayed by Ramya Krishnan in the movie. It picturised her rise to power, and was done by Mrunal Thakur in the series, directed by Deva Khatta. Shooting and other works began with the consent and support of S.S. Rajamouli. Rejecting Kunal Deshmukh and Ribu Das Gupta, Deva Khatta came to the directorial role. Rahul Bose and Atul Kulkarni later joined the series. It was shot in a gigantic set up made at Ramoji Rao film City, Hyderabad.
Almost 150 crores were spent on these works, with additional expense on post production. During the editing stage, Netflix confirmed that it didn't match their expectations. Even after re - filming the same with Kunal Deshmukh as director, from July, 2021, they weren't satisfied. A loss of 250 crores were also born by Netflix. They are now planning to continue the project with an entirely new team, and there are speculations that the contract is already been given to Bombay Fables , creators of the show "Decoupled", starring R. Madhavan in the central role.
