Om Cheri N. N. Pillai receives Bahrain Keralite Society Literary Award.

Manama : The Bahrain Keralite Society Literary Award, for life time contributions to Malayalam Literature, as well as  language of this year Awarde to Prof. Om Cheri N.N. Pillai. The declaration was made by P. V. Radhakrishna Pillai, President ; Varghese Karaikkal , General Secretary and Firoz Thiruvathra, secretary; literature division.

" Om Cheri N.N. Pillai is a veteran and has contributed much to the Malayalam Theatre literature also, through his works like "Thevarude Aana", "Pralayam" and several one act plays as well as short plays. For the last seven decades, he is working in Delhi, and has played major role in popularising Malayalam Literature and Drama among the Expatriates." - said P. Radhakrishna Pillai.

 Prof. Om Cheri was born at Vaikkom in Kottayam district of Kerala, and started his career as a journalist. He also worked in Public Relations Department, All India Radio etc. The award was declared by a jury headed by M.Mukundan with Dr. K.S. Ravikumar, Dr. V.P. Joy and P.V. Radhakrishna Pillai as committee members, and would contain a cash award of INR 50000/- , Memento and Certificate.

The awarding ceremony will be held in Delhi, obeying the Covid protocols. BKS had been honouring the veterans of the field since 2000. M. Mukundan, ONV Kurup, Sugathakumari etc. constitute the list of previous recipients.
